Background: Research
leading to publications in well recognised journals, is a must for faculty for
gaining recognition, enriching teaching and career development. Technology is
a major enabler for speedy and high quality research work. The use of
computers and the availability of various software packages made it easy to
carry out data analysis and preparation of high quality research papers.
Objective: The workshop is
designed to provide skills for the social sciences faculty and researchers to
apply computer and analytical knowledge in research.
Contents
and Pedagogy: The workshop comprises three
modules:

The Web-based module
-
Research methods module
-
Computing skills modules
Web-based module is to familiarise the increasing popular
data and non-data information on internet. Research and Computing skills modules provide
training in the application of analytical tools including the use of
spreadsheets and Statistical packages like MS Excel and SPSS. The participants
will undertake group assignments to learn the application of ANOVA, Correlation
and Regression analyses etc. The programme begins with the introductory lecture
by Prof. V.V. Bhanojo Rao on research methods.
